TIFF Caravan

One of the largest projects of Romanian Film Promotion, TIFF Caravan was initiated in 2009 to compensate the lack of cinemas in major cities in the country.

After the success of the first edition, the organizers of Transilvania International Film Festival decided to continue the campaign and to promote it internationally. Along with Sofia, Sarajevo and Istanbul film festivals, in 2010 TIFF launched Operation Kino, meant to draw attention to the problem of film distribution in Europe, especially in countries without a strong film industry. The project was implemented by 2014 in all four territories, being co-financed by the EU through the MEDIA program.

Since 2015, TIFF Caravan is a member of Europa Cinemas, the first film theatre network focusing on European films. Its objective is to provide operational and financial support to cinemas that commit themselves to screen a significant number of European non-national films, to offer events and initiatives as well as promotional activities targeted at Young Audiences.

In 2016, from July until September, the films of TIFF Caravan were watched by more than 30,000 viewers in 17 cities.
